S/Manager - Database Management (App DB) &(DBA)

 JOB SUMMARY

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 10 - 15 years of experience in database administration, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Extensive experience with various RDBMS technologies (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Proven experience managing both Infra DBA and Application DB teams.
• Strong knowledge of cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS) and database migration strategies.
• Deep understanding of database security, compliance, and performance optimization.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
• Experience in collaborating with application development teams and performance tuning.
• Experience in working with highly scalable and performant systems (preferably more than 100 TB)
• Ability to identify, assess the skills and recruit technical team members.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of DBAs & App DB engineers who handle both database administration and development tasks.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the team.
  • Set performance goals for the team, conduct regular evaluations, and ensure professional growth opportunities.
• Database Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive database strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and technological needs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in both database administration and development to drive continuous improvement.
• Database Administration:
  • Oversee the administration of databases, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and performance tuning.
  • Manage capacity planning, database monitoring, and optimization to ensure the reliability and scalability of the database environment.
  • Implement and enforce database security measures to protect data integrity and compliance with regulations.
• Database Development:
  • Lead database design and development efforts, including schema design, stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects.
  • Work closely with application developers to ensure that database designs are optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of database-related code, ensuring best practices and high standards are met.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization:
  • Ensure that databases and SQL queries are optimized for performance, including index management, query optimization, and resource utilization.
  • Regularly analyze and fine-tune database performance, addressing any bottlenecks or issues.
• Project Management:
  • Lead and manage database-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with other IT and development teams to ensure successful integration and deployment of database solutions.
• Risk Management & Security:
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with database management and development, including security vulnerabilities and data integrity issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) related to data management.
• Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for database-related matters, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and business units.
  • Communicate database strategies, project status, and any issues to senior management and stakeholders.

 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with design tools like FIGMA, Photoshop, Illustrator or Sketch
• Experience on Zeplin.
• Texture packer & texture concepts (Sprite sheets creation).
• Understanding of UX, UI Design
